It has turned out to be a beautiful day. I had some fresh pineapple for breakfast.(I bought it for my son, which he didn’t eat before he left.)

My mom and I went to the cemetery today to check on veteran’s flags. There was an article in the local paper saying they could no longer afford to replace missing or tattered flags. So, mom and I have made it our mission to make sure every veteran has a decent flag at this cemetery. (My dad is buried there) We hadn’t been there in a few weeks and found 6 soldiers that needed a new flag.  Many of these men died so long ago, they have no family left to honor them.  This is our way of saying, WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR SACRIFICE FOR US

I figure I killed two birds with one stone:

  • honoring our soldiers
  • and getting some exercise

I hope when we move away next month, someone else will pick continue replacing flags.  We’re going to be over 500 miles south so won’t be able to drive back.

Perhaps we will find a cemetery down there where we can honor our soldiers with a new flag.
