Which Diet is the Best?

There are so many diets to choose from when we are deciding to lose weight. A few of the diets:

* low-calorie diet
* low-fat diet
* vegetarian diet
* low-sugar
* low-carb diet

I’ve tried several different diets over the years. Each one of them having lists of foods to eat and foods to avoid. It can be confusing to say the least.

I was reading a section at Ivillage what has the best foods for your diet. They have several diets listed and the foods that are acceptable for each one.

Seeing so many different diets at one place makes it easier to choose one that will best fit your needs and lifestyle. This website has a wide array of helpful information.

    Which Diet is the Best? Well, I would say ‘No Diet’ - or a ‘Mindful Eating’ diet. Diets put waaay too much emphasis on food.. not to mention making you more aware of what you CAN’T do or have. It’s all sooo negative :(

    When a person wants to lose weight and doesn’t really know how, it’s nice to have a guide line to follow. Eating healthy along with exercise is the way to acheive ones weight loss goal. If the word “diet” helps to keep someone on track…I think it’s a good thing.

    I think the key to losing weight is:

    1) 3 meals ONLY - mindful of portion.
    2) 1 predetermined snack - about the same time every day - SMALL healthy snack - preferably low carb, low fat like light string cheese with 50 calories or radishes or celery with cream cheese.
    3) Don’t use sugar substitute - learn to reduce the amount of sugar you consume - use real sugar if you’re going to sweeten. Almost eliminate sweetened food and drink from your diet.
    4) replace soda with water and drink coffee and tea with no sugar or don’t drink it at all.
    5) Eat the similar things every day for breakfast and lunch - I eat 1vThomas’ light english muffin with 8 grams of fiber with butter and low sugar marmalade (Smuckers) every morning. Every lunch I eat another high fiber english muffin with either tuna or a piece of cheese and a few slices of turkey. I eat radishes or 1 low fat string cheese mid afternoon and for dinner I eat a small portion of meat and have a salad or green vegetables. I stay away from a lot of carbs at dinner. I have NO SNACKS AFTER DINNER - this was the hardest part for me - that includes tea which I used to have with plenty of sugar before going to bed. NO MORE!
    6) Excercise - I go to the gym 4 or 5 times a week for about a half hour - that’s not really enough but it’s what I can do right now.

    My keys were to eat a healthy and balanced vegetarian diet (not “diet” but food lifestyle really), workout, and most importantly to seek God’s help and trust Him for results.

    I agree that no diet is the best option. The best way to lose weight and keep it off long term is to create healthy eating habits and a moderate exercise regieme. Good post!
