Walking in the Winter

I don’t mind walking when it’s cold but am afraid to walk anymore than I have to in the snow. I already fell once getting to my car. There was ice under the snow and I couldn’t catch myself. My injury consisted of a small cut on my knee. Needless to say, I’m hesitatant to walk much in the elements unneccessarily.

In order to increase my steps in the house, I’ve been making extra trips to the basement. The good thing is, I’m getting the basement cleaned out for our move. Hauling some stuff out for the garbage and packing other stuff.

We plan to take mom down to our new house this Friday/Saturday. I can’t wait to see the look on her face when she sees the property and her room. She loves wildlife and there is so much right out the back window. My husband even racked the leaves in the front part of the woods so mom could walk with out tripping on sticks or slippery leaves. I know the dog is going to love all that space to run in too. (She doesn’t like snow either)

Walking in the Winter is going to be a snap once we move. It rarely snows the

G’luck in all your endeavors:) I’m a life dieter too. At my highest I weighed around 320, I’m a male, 5′9 and was a 44waist. I’m now down to 185 and still trying to get to 165. It’s so hard still. Every year I gain aroun 20lbs then balance out. Just to contribute, This works for me 1)Never let yourself get hungry.2)Don’t eate trigger food(it’s like throwing gas on a fire). I love oreo’s and m&m’s( I would trade my 1st born 4 a dbl stuffed oreo),but I haven’t had one in years because I know I can’t stop. 3)Most important forget it! Throw the word diet away! Substitute think for ex. when I crave oreos, i quickly start singing my favorite song, etc. Corny but it helps. So keep up the g’fight:)

Anonymous….Thanks for sharing with me what has worked for you. I’m going to try singing a song next time the cookie monster tries grabbing me. My mom and husband my head for the hills with my rendition of Fly Me to the Moon.

I guess I am lucky that our city provides outdoor walking tracks that the Parks Department keeps free of snow. (I am sure it cost me less in taxes than our treadmill.)

    Good luck and be safe!
