Two New Skills to Maintain Weight Loss

Like so many people, I have been on that roller coaster ride of weight loss. I’ve lost over 100 pounds on two separate occasions. And here I sit, needing to lose 80 pounds. Obviously, I never had the skills to keep it off.

I blamed this last weight gain on moving, getting married, and retirement. It’s always so much easier to push the blame on incidents that happen in my life. I know the bottom line is….I went back to my old eating habits. When I reflect on this last weight gain….I was able to keep the weight off for 3 years. I changed back so gradually…..on size at a time. Within that 4th year…I had gained all my weight back.

I was reading this article Two New Skills to Maintain Weight Loss. I’m going to have to follow this when I reach my goal. I find the older I get, the harder it is to lose the weight. I want this to be the LAST time.

I can relate. I’ve been on that roller coaster too and I also need to lose 80 lbs. We just joined a gym and the trainer said my goal is doable, but rquires a big commitment and about a year and a half.

But we don’t like to hear that, we want fast results, which is why we backslide more often than not. Not seeing results right away or falling into a rut can make us turn to food all over again.

We can do anything we set our minds to though. It is possible to lose the weight and keep it off.
