Reading Another’s Thoughts On Weight Loss Leads to More Questions

I bought a used book, Eating Disorders,(a new approach to treating anorexia, bulimia, and overeating) by Gregory Jantz, PH.D.. Each chapter has a section where you have questions and various writing exercises in which you are to express how you feel about such things as people, food, and feelings.

As I got into the question section of chapter one, I saw someone had already written in the book. Reading the responses, it was obvious this person was attempting to lose weight.

I could sense the despair, loneliness and isolation of this person in their writing. She/he wrote about their fear of certain foods and their obsession with others. This person constantly thought about weight loss but felt helpless.

I flipped through the rest of the book to see if their outlook had changed. Hoping to see a glimmer of self-worth expressed. This person never went past chapter 2.

I could see this person had more issues to deal with than just weight loss. Wishing I could give them a hug and tell her/him they are not alone.

I sit here wondering….where is this person today? How do they feel about themselves? Are they working on their issues? Are they experiencing success on their weight loss journey?

I’ll say a prayer for them and have comfort knowing they are in God’s Hands.

There is a lot of pain
you must be happy first before you lose weight or it won’t stay off

That is a very sad story that millions of overweight people can relate to. Being overweight is a very deep emotional problem. Hopefully that person person found another way to help themselves.

    Hello, This is Mary

I am 36 years old with 2 toddlers. My youngest just started day care last week- which still feels a little strange. I haven’t had this much time to myself in years. First thing I want to do is lose the extra pounds I put on during the last pregnancy. One of the girls next door has suggested I join her walking group two days a week. After my first pregnancy I lost around 35 pounds using the Herbalife products, but when I called the man that sold them to me three years ago he told me this week he doesn’t sell them anymore. He told me to look on the internet. It’s disappointing because he was really nice and he called me regularly to make sure I was using their products correctly. It was nice to have someone checking in with me every week to see how I was and it kept me motivated.

I searched on the internet for someone that sells Herbalife in New Jersey. I found many websites but I don’t want
just to buy the products, I want to find someone trustworthy that sells the products so I can also meet them and get started again.

Could anybody here recommend someone in New Brunswick?
    .

    Thanks, Mary

Fear and mental obsession are main causes of emotional eating. I agree Chris. I hope that this person has found hope and comfort within themselves. This was a very reflective post. Thank you.
