My longest walk……..12 miles
Yesterday the weather was perfect. It was in the low 70’s with minimal humidity. A great day for cutting grass. I walked over 24,000 steps pushing the lawnmower. I couldn’t get my light weight one started so I had to use the heavy yardman lawnmower. I was mad at my husband because he had left “baby” out in the rain. I figured the rain had ruined it. I figured pushing that mower would probably burn off more calories. I didn’t stay mad very long.
He tried to get me to use the riding mower. I got on….put down the mower….he pushed the lever to make the motor speed up…..and….and….I chickened out. I turned off and dismounted. Maybe next time. At least I had the nerve to get on. I wouldn’t do that before….it’s a step in the right direction.
Besides walking the 12 miles, I did a lot of raking yesterday. My husband was cutting hedges so I was raking piles of branches and debris and putting them into a wagon to haul to the dumping ground. I had a good work out yesterday. We spent a little over 6 hours working on the lawn.
Had to mention ….my husband got my favorite lawnmower going this morning. A screw had fallen out. Yippeee

well, thank goodness it was just a lose screw! You know, you won’t burn as many calories on the rideing mower, so keep on ‘chickening out’!!

WOW Way to go on the step count Chris. That is fantastic. Definitely a great way to get those calories burnt off.
And maybe next time you will want to use the ride on - but with the benefits of walking maybe you wont
Hope you have a great week

25 years ago, I’d have rode it without a second thought. As I’ve gotten older, trying new things is much harder for me. I’ll just keep pushing “baby” around. I think it’s the feeling of control. I sure didn’t feel that as I sat on the rider. EWWWW
