More LA Weight Loss Centers Closing in Tennessee

I have received an email from an employee at a Tennessee LA Weight Loss Center in regards to centers closing in her area shortly. If you are a member of one of the centers in Memphis, Germantown or Bartlett TN, you need to get a refund. At least attempt to get your money back. They are closing in a matter of weeks.
She states Germantown and Memphis LA Weightloss Centers are still running commercials to sign people up, knowing they are closing in a few weeks. She states that if you are presently a member, you should already notice that all the counselors are gone. They got rid of everyone of them because they didn’t want them to tell any of the clients the Centers were closing.
They are still continuing to enroll people for their year long program.
I want to thank the person for sending this information. I’m know this information will be helpful to many readers. It will keep unsuspecting people from signing up and perhaps help others attempt to get a refund from these LA Weight Loss Centers.
I’d like to suggest people check with their local hospital and see if or when they will be running a weight loss program. My hospital in Selmer, TN started a weight loss program three weeks ago. It’s a GREAT program and only cost $10 for 8 weeks. It includes the use of 3 different gyms (you pick one), nutrition classes every week and the chance to win cash at the end of the program. The day of the nutrition class, you can also purchase a healthy meal in the cafeteria for $3.
The gym I chose for my 8 week program (McNairy County Athletic Club) is open 24 hours and has a separate men and women’s side. It also includes a tanning bed. They are very helpful at the club and will set up an exercise program that fits your level of fitness.
I’m losing weight and having fun doing it on this program. I’ve also met so many nice people. What more could a person as for…..weight loss…..fun…..new friends. Wow…..what a win-win situation.

I heard the center in Jackson, TN was closed and I called the Barlett center to be told that they had nothing to do with the Jackson center because it was Franchise. They gave me a lady’s name and phone number to call about getting a refund. Of course she has not answered her phone or returned her call. Any clues as to how to get a refund?

I am member of the Bartlett location. I was told by
my counselor that Bartlett and Germantown was closing
on August 29, 2008 She said that I should request all
of my bars. It is to late for me to get a refund.
Pls inform people not to be taken by them. This center
is planning a open house to sign up new people(suckers)
when they know that they are closing soon. What
awful people…

I recently saw an ad on tv for LA Weight Loss. It’s hard to believe they can still be promoting the business as they are closing down.
Rip: I hope you get all your bars. Thanks for helping the readers in this locale. I know you’ve have saved money for many with your post.

Update on the San Diego LATO (Corporate owned take over centers) in the San Diego Market:
It looks like corporate is starting to shut down the San Diego market as well now. 3 Centers just closed the doors recently, and the centers in Chula Vista, El Cajon are rumored to be closing soon as well. That will leave only the Mission Vally, Poway and Oceaside locations open and only 3 out of the original 9 that were in operation (La Jolla was closed quite some time ago). in the San Diego area.
Now Closed:
4911 Clairemont Dr # B, San Diego, CA (858) 490-1560
1024 W Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA (760) 737-2700
165 S El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA – (760) 632-5900

Upon hearing of LA Weight Loss Centers closing in Tennessee, I was flabbergasted to find in a re-cyling drop-off, hundreds of file folders with contract agreements, personal info including pictures, addresses, phone #s, etc. It appeared the folders were from the LA Weight Loss center in Knoxville, thought the re-cycling drop-off was in Blount County.
No wonder identities get stolen with “this level of confidentiality”!!! SAD!

If you are worried about your local weight loss center closing down… why not try an online weight loss program like Vtrim?? I’m doing Vtrim right now and its great. It is a behavioral weight loss program developed by the University of Vermont. The average person loses 24 pound in 6 months. You just have to meet online one hour per week, and a discussion is lead by a facilitator. I’ve already lost 10 pounds in one month! You should check it out….http://www.uvm.edu/vtrim

That is sad. I worked for a small fitness center and when we had to close due to economic circumstances we were very clear with out clients and wouldn’t accept any new clients as well as worked with existing clients to come to best possible solution.

Its sad that the gym is closing. Its time you start your own mini-gym at home. It doesn’t have to be expensive.
