Gaining Weight to Lose Weight
Gaining weight to lose weight…….that doesn’t sound like it makes much sense, does it. So often when we gain weight, we become more sedetary due to the fact it’s harder to get around. So, when we decide to start working out and eating healthy to lose weight, we find we’ve gained. It can be discouraging. I always recommend measuring yourself….your upper arms, hips, waist, upper and lower legs before you seriously begin a weight loss program.
Don’t rely on the weight loss/gain the scale tells you. The scale(I use a Taylor Scale) is only part of the weight loss process. The percentage of body fat is what needs to be reduced. Depending on how much you need to lose, you could actually gain weight to be healthy by toning your muscles.
I need to do both….tone and lose weight. My post hole digging and fence building I recently undertook has been a good start for me. I’ll talk about that in another entry.
