Fun Day at the River

I went fishing with my cousin yesterday in the Illinois River. We stopped at WalMart and picked up some worms. They are half the price of the bait shop. It was the first time I have used the fishing pole my dad bought me in 40 years. Holding that pole sure brought back lots of memories. The reel still worked great. Guess it just shows how well things use to be made.

I know I didn’t burn many calories yesterday but it was so much fun. I caught 5 fish. None of them were big enough to keep(I thought the bass was). I had it on a stringer. When my husband joined us later in the afternoon, he said it wasn’t big enough. Since he is the one that cleans them, I said ok and had him toss it back in.

There were a lot of boaters out yesterday. Many of them waving as they passed us. We always gave a big wave back. I was wishing I had a whole stringer of fish to hold up. Perhaps next time.

My husband has to work all day so I need to get busy and make him a lunch. I’m waiting until mom gets up and I’ll have her go with me to take it to him. Think I’ll take her shopping after that. I can really burn off calories when we have one of our power trips.

I’ve taken pork chops out for supper and have to decide how I’m going to fix them. I’ve got two low-fat cookbooks with lots of good and easy recipes. I’m going to see what I can find in them. I bought these cookbooks at Amazon.com very reasonable.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun.
Sorry the fish were too small.

PS Good luck on the cookbooks.
