Doing the Math

Really my diet / exercise / health activities have been generally atrocious. I recently read a book which highly mentioned the concept of not having enough time for this or that, but usually not enough time is just a misallocation of focus or resources.

I should care what I look like because it effects the way others perceive me, but even moreso because it effects the way I perceive myself.

My roommate has tried to quit smoking, going on & off with it. He just did his finals for the summer semester. Summer is winding down to an end, and in the past I was always in better shape durring the summer than the winter.

Any way you slice it that is gross. My roommate just bought a new scale, which showed me at 230 pounds and 31.6% body fat. That comes out to 115 pounds of body fat.

A couple years ago I weighed about 185 with 10.5% body fat, which equates to 19 pounds of body fat.

I don’t think body weight matters anywhere near as much as body composition. Right now I weight 45 pounds more than I did in the past with nearly 100 more pounds of fat, which means I also lost 5o pounds of body muscle. I need to lose about 100 pounds of body fat, and about 40 pounds. My theory is this:

  • I am not going on any set diet plan because I think diets are used to push blame.
  • I am not going to eat any foods high in sugar unless they are fruits because they are just dead calories.
  • I am not going to drink any alchohol for a while.
  • I am going to workout after I finish typing this (and work out daily).
  • I am going to start eating vegetables (and not just corn & potatoes).
  • I am going to set my alarm to try to wake up before noon every day.
  • I will be going on some trips, and realize that on those stuff might get a bit mixed up or harder to do, but will not use trips as excuses to make it ok to heavily overeat or do other stupid stuff.
  • The goal is to lose 2.5% body fat per week.

I have not decided whether or not to take fattiness pictures yet… I may soon though.

The real issue at hand is not my body weight, but my self image and self respect. If I am to be truely happy I need to improve those greatly.

“I was just recently in 7-Eleven and saw a display for this product called Skinny Water, which claims to suppress your appetite just by drinking it before every meal… and I was wondering if anyone has heard of it or tried it before and does it work like they say? I looked on google, and found that they have a site, http://www.skinnywater.com and read through some of the information and it seems to be pretty legit. What do you think?”
