Great blog! I am totally falling into bad habits right now. I have a lot of stress in my life, and my way of dealing with it - is eating. I'm going to try the whole - if I don't buy it and have it in the house - then I won't eat it. We'll see how that works. One thing that has helped my stress levels and in turn my overeating, is a book a friend turned me on to called It Can Be Done! Very uplifting and inspirational, dealing with diet, stress and self-esteem. Thanks again for this blog!

I have drank diet coke for several years now. I admit I am addicted and must have at least a can a day or I go crazy for a sweet beverage. I try to make it the whole day without one, but I can only drink so much water. I have read many stories of people who lost weight cutting diet coke from their diet. I guess it must be true. I have found that after a DC I am hungry for something. Why is everything that tastes good bad for you? As a kid I drank probably around 5-7 regular cokes or mt. dews everyday. So I feel I have improved. The thing is I weighed less when I was drinking 5-7 regular sodas a day. Makes no sense to me. Anyone weigh less when they drank regular sodas? And I do exercise by running about 25 mile per week.

That is a hard habit to break for sure. Sodas are certainly something that we crave from time to time. I would suggest that if it becomes too hard to quit "cold turkey" that gradually drinking less each day and replacing those drinks with water would be a great start.

Chris, For me the hardest thing is to keep my appetite and cravings under control. I had back surgery and was over weight and had bad nutrition and with the help of friends and loved ones I am back on the right track and ready to move forward in the new year to accomplish all of my goals!!!

Hope you get back to it, getting off the wagon is always a difficult process. Nothing worth it in life is easy.

Wow,
So sorry to hear you fell so hard. You know what is good and bad. I have been eating and drinking healthy for over 20 years and I know how easy it can happen. For the last 14 months though I have put all my nutritional eating knowledge to work. I will eat an occasional piece of cake or do some fast food, but I know that stuff will slowly kill me if I do it too often. Soda is the worst of the bad though, and Diet soda is much, much worse. You know the studies of artificial sweeteners. The artificial sweeteners make you crave more sweets. If your going to do soda, at least drink the healthier non diet. I wish you well, and get back to eating and drinking healthy today. It's never too late. Make good habits, not bad. Your friend Mike

You know what! I applaud your honesty! It's hard enough to make those admissions to yourself, but to share it with others...amazing! That's the first step to holding yourself accountable. I know how hard it is! Hang in there and keep up the self-evaluation! Dieting is hard, weight loss is harder, but you can do it!

Nice Job Chris! Hopefully it made you feel better! Anytime I have a diet coke, which as I said, is not as frequently as many, I make sure I drink a bottle of water before and after...makes for a lot of bathroom breaks those days!!!!
