Who and What is Really Important?

It seems we all get so busy in our every day lives it is so easy to put God on a shelf....remembering Him on Sunday for an hour or so at church. We try to solve our problems and often create new ones when we forget to ask God's help....or praise Him for the things He has already done for us.

I was reading Girl On a Mission this morning. Just had to share this post with everyone. It was so touching. I know, anyone that reads it, will realize who is important and what is important in our lives.

Wow....the power in prayer!!!!!!!!!

Burned off Over 550 Calories

Well, after two hours of working outside, I decided I needed a break. We were planting our new fruit trees until the concrete truck arrived. Holy Moly, is that HARD WORK. I was right in the midst of it all....shoveling, scooping, and smoothing it off. The muscles in my arms and legs feel like jelly. I can sure feel it in my shoulders as well. I went to Caloriesperhour and plotted my figures in a came up with a whopping 557 calories burned.

Caloriesperhour has a great article on the importance of drinking water. I need to get off the diet coke. I know drinking water helps your body burn fat which equals...weight loss!!!!

Long enough break for me, better go see what I can do now to help my husband.

Losing Weight , Burning Calories with Outside Work

The past two days I've got plenty of walking in. I'm learning it's necessary to walk early in the morning. The temperature has been in the 80's for the past week. It seemed to go from (mild winter) right into summer. I have a hard time drinking much plain water so I am back again to drinking my Lemon Propel. There are only 30 calories in a 23.7 ounce bottle. It's interesting to know that an 8 ounce glass of milk has the same amount of calcium as a 700 ml bottle of Propel water.

I should get a good workout today. We are waiting for the concrete truck to get here. I get to help my husband with the extension we are adding to the existing patio. This extension is twice the size of the patio. I'm sure tomorrow I'm going to realize muscles I forgot I had. I enjoy the outdoors but rarely have workouts like this.

It's getting to be grass cutting season again. Since we've moved, I'm not sure if my husband will get any lawn business down here. I hope he does, I love working outside. Pushing the lawnmower sure helped burn calories while building my leg muscles.

Yard work is the game......weight loss is my aim.

The concrete truck should be here any minute so better get the chicken breasts out of the freezer for supper.

Being Happy While Losing Weight

I'm finally feeling better. The only thing I'm still dealing with is a cough. It feels good to be back among the living. My mom is on the road to recovery as well. Yesterday was the first day she was able to stay up the entire day. It's going to be a couple more days before she can go for our usual walk because she is still pretty shaky.

Since losing weight is all about lifestyle change, I found this quote by Jim Rohn I thought was appropriate, "Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want. Happiness is not an accident. Nor is it something you wish for. Happiness is something you design."

Mom just got up....time to go have a cup of coffee with her.

Weight Loss.......By Getting Sick

I've had my biggest weight loss in the last 5 days.....10 pounds. I started getting sick on the 13th. The next day, it was all I could do to lift my head up from the pillow. Last night was the first I could eat anything.

I thought when it first hit me, it was just an allergy. Realize by night fall, it must be the flu. My sides are still hurting from coughing so much but at least I have the strength to sit up. It's been a long time since I've been that sick.

Although I couldn't eat, I did drink plenty of water and tea those few days. That isn't the way I want to lose weight. I'll just have to see how much of it stays off when I'm back to 100%.

I've got a cup of green tea and heading back to the couch.

Eating Healthy to Lose Weight and exercise

The weather has been so beautiful this past week. Mom and I have taken our walk in the park everyday. I keep forgetting to take the camera with me. It's such a lovely park. It has a beautiful monument with flags flying and the city name on the front of it. I enjoy sitting in the gazebo and watching the flags waving so proudly. Perhaps today I'll remember the camera.

Two days ago, I decided to rake all the leaves out of the flower beds along the house and the beds along the back section of the yard. Holy moly, my left arm was killing me yesterday. I didn't realize racking could cause this much pain....perhaps I just forgot. Needless to say, it was worth it, the flower beds look 100% better. I didn't get any callousses either. Yea!!!

The daffodils and grape hyacinths are blooming like crazy, along with some I don't know. The various bushes are coming back to life with their deep red leaves on some, while others are a bright yellow. I'm so happy we moved here. It's so peaceful.

I have given up candy for lent. I thought I would have a hard time sticking to that, but so far so good. I've been much better at curbing my snacking. I got on the scale and have lost one pound. That sure isn't anything earth shattering, but a loss is a loss.

Time to fix myself breakfast. I've decided to have some oatmeal. Quaker has some new flavors out, but I enjoy the old fashioned oatmeal. I usually include a cup of green tea. Lipton such a variety of flavors. They have two new flavors of green tea, decaf honey lemon, and cranberry pomegranate. I haven't tried them yet.

Studies show that both oatmeal and green tea are great in a weight loss program. I just need to stick with the on a more regular basis.

New Study on Atkins Diet on Women

I was watching the 10 pm news last night. Of course I don't remember word for word what was said but the bottom line of the article was, women lost more weight on the Atkins Diet. This study was done by the Journal of American Medicine Association. It was compared to the Ornish Diet, Zone Diet, and the Learn Diet.(I couldn't find the Learn Diet) Women lost more weight in a year on the Atkins Diet.

I tried the Atkins Diet for a short time once. I couldn't stand all that meat. My mouth always tasted like a slim jim. Even when I brushed my teeth, that taste was still there. Needless to say, I quit it. I must admit though, I did lose weight. The only thing bad, as soon as you start back on the carbs, the weight comes back too.

It's going to be interesting to see how popular this diet becomes again and for how long it lasts.

The Final Trip North with the Trailer

I'm happy to say, we are finally back in TN. We closed on mom's house last Friday afternoon. I was never so glad to get out of there. The entire week, it was cold, windy, with snow, sleet, and rain. The only furniture we had were our fishing chairs and the bed. Not exactly the greatest of accomodations. We didn't want to waste money staying at a hotel just for the convience of a tv. We were happy when the real estate company said the closing was all set for Friday. We thought we might have to come back to TN after making a few repairs to wait for the closing.

It was such a good feeling to pull that door shut for the last time. I'm so happy to know, our next trip to Illinois will not include the trailer. It was so windy coming back this last trip, we couldn't go over about 55 mph most of the way. We ran into flooding across one highway, that really scared me. I couldn't believe there were no signs posted for water on the road.

I haven't felt good for the last 5 days. I drank about 5 bottles of Pepto Bismal. I think, my nerves on top of having to eat out every meal, was more than my stomach could handle. Today, is the first day my stomach hasn't bothered me.

I haven't got on the scale but I'm sure I sabotaged my weight loss on this last trip. Eating out every meal for over a week and eating healthy, was impossible for me.

I've just finished a cup of hot tea. I'm grabbing my water and heading to the gym. I've got my Ipod (my husband has the nano and loves it) and Omron pedometer in my pocket. This will actually be my first day working out at this new place. I'm kind of nervous, yet excited about starting a new program.
