Walking off the weight in the right shoes

I've had two great days in a row. 34,000 steps yesterday and 31,300 steps today. When I first started cutting lawns with my husband, I wore light weight canvas tennis shoes. I decided to try another shoe recently and I really notice a difference. My feet are not aching like they were. I have better support and notice I haven't been turning my ankle like I was doing in the other shoes. I'm now wear cobbie cuddlers. They are a leather shoe, with a great cushion for your foot and also light weight. They only cost about $20.00.

It looks like I'm basically walking the weight off this summer. It only makes sense to do it with decent shoes.

It was so so hot here today. We left the house at 7 am and didn't get home until 8:30 pm. My face still feels like it is on fire. I'd of thought by now, my skin would be use to the sun. I sure don't tan like my husband. I started out this season with skin like snow white.

Tomorrow I'm not cutting any grass. I plan on going fishing with my cousin. Should be interesting since I can't touch a worm or a fish. I'm glad he doesn't mind baiting my hook and taking my fish off. Fishing is one sport I know I'll never do alone. I'd have to fish with corn if I tried and then cut the line if I caught a fish. I love reeling them in.

Getting in shape landscaping ....ouchie!!!

It's amazing the different muscles I used yesterday landscaping a customer's garden area around their house. My back of my legs, my shoulders, and my arms are killing me. This has to be what if feels like getting hit by a Mac truck.

Because they only wanted use to work on the garden area, I only got in a little over 8,000 steps yesterday. I figure I burned off quite a few calories swinging that scicle and cutting tree limbs. I don't know about losing weight with all that work, but I had to do something for building muscles.

When we got home I hit the shower after taking some aspirins. I listened to the answering machine, one of our customers wants her grass cut today. I just sighed....thinking....tomorrow's a new day. I'll be ok.

Losing weight isn't easy....but being persistance pays off.

Husband is hitching up the lawn equipment to the truck...time for me to go. Grabbing my pedometer and my ice tea heading for the door.

Made my 10,000 Steps Again Today

My husband had to work at the hardware store today so mom and I went shopping. She had bought a pair of pants the other day and didn't try them on. This morning, she tried them on, and they were too short. We took them back and were lucky enough to find another pair that fit and matched the top. We stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few items and headed to Wendy's for lunch. I had a baked potato with butter andno sour cream and a small chili with a glass of water. Our travels only amounted to a little over 2,000 steps. So I didn't think I was going to make my 10,000 steps.

My husband got home and 3 pm and said he was going to cut grass at one of our large places. He told me I could stay home but I felt I should help him. I got on my work clothes, and shoes and headed out the door. I ended up making my 10,000 steps. I also cut down a few small trees. I love using those cutters.

Tomorrow we have the huge yard....the one I managed to walk 12 miles at two weeks ago. I hope the weather is good. I'm going to take some aspirins with me. My knees always give me such a fit when I walk a lot. In fact, they are bothering me right now.

I know if I can continue to loss weight, my knees will be so much better. I'm off to the shower after I take a few aspirins.

I plan on weight myself tomorrow.

Rejecting Comments on Weight Loss

I just read a comment in my email left by an individual that also has a weight loss blog. I just shook my head and rejected it. Why do people think anyone would want to link to a site that has such unrealistic claims. The individual claimed to have lost 33 pounds in 3 weeks. How ridiculous is that!!!!

Losing Weight with Grapefruit juice can have interfere with Medications

There are grapefruit diets out there. If you are on various medications, be sure and check with your doctor before you proceed with such a diet. This story is an example of the adverse effects.

Snack Attack...Best and Worst Foods

Studies show that completely banning the foods you love actually causes you to eat more than if you allowed yourself to indulge on occassion. So eat your favorite foods in moderation, and grab healthy snacks like these, which fill you up with a minimum of calories. This will health your diet.
Best Foods to Grab
These foods keep energy levels steady.
1. Chunk light tuna salad (canned in water, blended with light mayonnaise) on
whole-wheat bread.
2. Low-sugar fudge bar.
3. Cup of broth-based or tomato-based soup.
4. Lowfat yogurt blended with a tablespoon of lowfat granola.
5. Lowfat canned or small fast-food chili.
6. Bean burrito with salsa.
7. Whole-grain cereal topped with fress fruit and lowfat milk.
8. Regular instant oatmeal prepared with lowfat milk and topped with 1/4 cup
dried fruit.

Worst Foods to Grab

These foods may boost your mood and your energy temporarily, but you'll soon come
crashing down.
1. Potato chips, tortilla chips or cheese puffs.
2. Fast-food french fries.
3. Candy bar.
4. Soda or slushy frozen beverage.
5. Snack cake.
6. Doughnut.
7. Ice cream.
8. High-fat popcorn with butter.

I know there are just too many of these things I like. I'm posting this on computer to remind me what and what NOT to eat. Losing weight is a priority!!!

10 Super Foods For a Better Diet

These foods were selected and published by the Center for Science in the Public Interest. It is a nonprofit group located in Washington, D.C.
The foods are:

1. Sweet Potatoes
One of the best vegetables you can eat. They're loaded with carotenoids,
vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. Mix in unsweetened applesauce or crushed
pineapple for extra moisture and sweetness.

2. Grape Tomatoes
They're sweeter and firmer than other tomatoes, and their bite-size shape
makes them perfct for snacking, dipping, or salads. They are also packed
with Vitamin C and Vitamin A, and you also get some fiber and some
phytochemicals, and (finally) some flavor.

3. Fat-free (Skim) or 1% Milk (not 2%)
Excellent source of calcium, vitamins, and protein with little or no
artery-clogging fat and cholesterol. Soy milk can have just as many
nutrients--if the company adds them.

4. Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
They're rich in fiber, Vitamin C, and antioxidants.

5. Wild Salmon
The omega-3 fish like wild salmon can help reduce the risk of
sudden-death heart attacks. And salmon that is caught wild has less
dioxin that fresh-farmed salmon.

6. Crispbreads
Whole-grain rye crackers, like Wasa, Ry Krisp, and Ryvita--usually called
crispbreads--are loaded with fiber and often fat-free.

7. Microwaveable or "10 minute" Brown Rice
Enriched white rice is nutritionally bankrupt. You lose the fiber,
magnesium, Vitamins E and B-6, copper, zinc, and various phyto-chemicals
that are in the whole grain. Try quick-cooking brown rice instead.

8. Oranges
Great-tasting and rich in Vitamin C, folic acid, and fiber. Perfect for a
snack or dessert.

9. Diced Butternut Squash
A growing number of food stores sell peeled, seeded, cut and ready-to-go
into the oven, into a stir-fry, or into a soup or risotto, that is---
bags of diced butternut squash. Every half cup has 5 grams of fiber and
lots of Vitamin A and C.

10. Pre-washed, Pre-cut Bags of Greens
Greens like kale, spnach, and broccoli are nutritional power houses.
Most are loaded with Vitamin C, carotenoids, calcium, folate, potassium,
and fiber.

Your own personal genie for weight loss....gotta love Ebay

I can't resist checking out some of the nutty stuff on Ebay. How about your own personal genie in a bottle? It's just waiting for you over on Ebay. The listing even plays genie music while you read. I'm sure she could grant a person's wish for weight loss. YIKES!!....I'm kidding...I'm kidding. The bid is already over $200.00.

This individual claims to make her living doing this. Says she lives on a lake and drives a Mercedes. Goodness sakes.....are we really that desperate? I'd love to think there was a magic spell/genie that could make me lose weight. Snapping back to reality, I'm going to go drink another glass of water.

10 Foods a Person Should Never Eat

According to Center for Science in the Public Interest located in Washington D.C., there are 10 foods we should never eat. This goes for everyone...not just people who are dieting.

1. Artery Crust
Pepperidge Farm Original Flaky Crust Roasted Chicken Pot Pie....has 510 calories
and 9 grams of saturated fat listed on the box. Look closely and you will see,
it is only half a pie. Add the whole pie and you have over 1000 calories and
31 grams of artery-clogging total fat.(18 sat. fat, 13 trans fat)

2. Strip Tease
McDonald's Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips sound healthy. In fact, ounce
for ounce, the Selects are no healthier than the chain's Chicken McNuggets. A
standard, five-strip order has 630 calories and 11 grams of fat. That's about
the same as a Big Mac, except the burger has 1,010 mg of sodium, while the
Select has 1,550 mg. without the salty sauce.

3. Factory Reject
Each slice of The Cheesecake Factory's 6 Carb Original Cheesecake has 610
calories--only 20 less than their Original Cheesecake. There are 29 grams
of fat...1 1/2 days supply.

4. Discomfort Food
Marie Callender's Herb Roasted Chicken with Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli Florets
and Carrots has 530 calories, 12 grams of saturated fat, and 1,270 mg of
sodium. This is equal to a Big Mac.

5. Out In Left Field
One Mrs. Fields Milk Chocolate and Walnuts cookie has more than 300 calories
and as much fat as a 12-ounce sirloin steak.

6. Starbucks on Steriods
Starbucks Venti Strawberries and Creme Frappuccion Blended Creme with whipped
cream is more than a mere cup of coffee. It as like a milk shake. It contains
770 calories and 19 grams of fat. (10 of them saturated--half a day's quota)

7. Coronary King
Burger King makes some of the worst french fries you can buy. A King Size
order packs 600 calories and three-quarters of a person's daily maximum
for heart-unhealthy fat.

8. Salt's On
Campbell's red-and-white label condensed soups are brimming with salt: Half
a can averages more than half of a person's daily quota of salt.

9. Oops
Swoops a product of Hershey's, has almost 200 calories, 7 or 8 grams of
saturated fat, and more than 4 teaspoons of sugar in each six-Swoop pack.
While the Almond Joy or Hershey's Milk Chocolate Swoops are no worse than
the candy bars, that's not the case for the other varieties. Thanks to the
highly saturated palm and/or palm kernel oil, York Swoops have more than
three times as much sat fat as a York Peppermint Pattie, and Reese's Swoops
have roughly twice as much as Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

10. Razzle, Dazzle 'em
A Haagen-Dazx Mint Chip Dazzler (three scoops of ice cream, hot fudge, Oreos,
chocolate sprinkles, and whipped cream) has 1,270 calories and 38 grams of
saturated fat. Think of it as a portable T-bone steak with Caesar salad
and baked potato with sour cream. But that's dinner--yet many people have a
Dazzler as a dessert after lunch and dinner!!

My next post...I'll share healthy alternatives.

Who am I?

I was reading a post on iportion's blog which I read regularly. It got me thinking....who am I?

In my high school English class,we were required to write a paper about ourselves. My paper was titled, "The Facets of My Life". It's strange I can remember that while forgetting things that happened yesterday.

I am still all those things today, I was 38 years ago. I am a daughter. (Roles have changed...I now care for my mom) I am a student. (learned from parents and books when young, learning more now through life application/observation) I am a teacher. (As a child I taught acrobats to kids I babysat. I also tutored. As an adult, I have taught my children intangible values and their abc's. I've taught large and small classes for my company.) I am a counselor. (As a child, I'd try to make a friend feel better when their feelings got hurt or when the block bully would start a fight. As an adult, I have my formal education in this field. I still deal with people and their feelings.)I am a traveler.(As a child, I went on vacation every year with my parents. As an adult, I still go on vacation every year. The only difference....I get to pick the place and time.)I am a knitter. (A neighbor taught me when I was about 6. I still knit today.)

There are so many facets to my life. It's like the light that passes through the prisms in a diamond. Always changing...but still the same.

Volunteer Work is Rewarding

Tuesday was my second day working at the free medical clinic. I did some computer work and had a company fax me an application for patients. The copy machine there is slower than molasses so I take the paperwork to the hospital and use their fancy machine. It spits out copies like lightning.

I volunteered to run and pick up medicine being donated by various doctors in the community while making my hospital run to make copies. She asked if I had a cell phone. I responded yes but I don't know the number. I looked in my person and see I had it wrote in my address book. I rarely use my phone and the only person that ever calls me is my husband.

I picked up meds at one doctor's office and proceeded to the hospital to make copies of the forms I needed. While there, she called and said another doctor had just called for a pick up of more medicine. The timing was perfect as I was just finishing with the copy machine. The doctor's office is only about 4 blocks from the hospital. I got there so quick, she had such a strange look on her face. (The clinic is 5 miles from the office)

I thanked the doctor and let her know how much these meds really helped our clients. She asked, "How many people are you serving right now?" YIKES!! (No Clue) I had to tell her, "I'm just the computer person over there. I can't stand the sight of blood, so I have nothing to do with that part of the program." She just laughed. I proceeded back to the car with meds in hand to see I had one missed call.

I called the office and it was her that had called. I've never learned out to check to see who has called on missed calls. Yep, another doctor had called in...one more med run for me. I was beginning to feel like a pharmacy with all these meds in my car.

I reached my third destination and was waiting patiently at the reception desk. I must have had a look on my face like "I'm here for free medicine." A nurse came out of a room and said, "Just a minute." She then brought out a huge bag of medicine. I asked, "How did you know I was here for this?". She said, "It was the way you were standing there." I thanked her and left. I'm still wondering what kind of stance I had. Oh well, mission accomplished.

When I got back to the office, the nurse was going through the bags...oooing and ahhhing. It figured it must be stuff they are really short on. I thought about clearance aisles in stores with all their junk. I was hoping these meds were not some obscure stuff people rarely used. I was glad to hear it was stuff they needed.

I put all my copies in my file and called it a day. I told the girls I'd see them next week. I had a feeling of satisfaction when I left. Helping someone I'll never meet. That's pretty cool!!

I'm helping myself with this weight loss doing this as well. When I'm working, I'm not eating. What a win-win situation.

Yikes....I'm A Total Snack Hound

I realize now why I quit keeping a journal of everything I eat. I am a total snack hound. I started keeping track yesterday and am surprised at all the snacking I did. I know I didn't write down EVERYTHING. My eating habits have digressed into the pool of poor eating. It happened so slowly. It's like that old saying..you can't see the forrest through the trees. I didn't realize I had gotten so bad.

Today, it's starting out differently. I had my cup of green tea and a bowl of Quaker Oatmeal (not instant). I tossed out my spice drops and M+M's. My snacking today is going to be sugar free jello.

It's been raining and we couldn't cut any grass this morning. I've got my volunteer work from 11-2. I'm hoping it clears off after that. We have another new lawn customer who only lifes a block from our home. I would like to get her lawn done today. We are finally caught up and I'd like to keep it that way.

I've decided I'm going to set weekly goals for myself. I need to set realistic goals. This weight loss is important to me. I have to quit procrastinating. I'll be working on them the next few days. I'll share them when I'm done.

Suggestions anyone?

"Baby" (lawnmower) Has New Shoes

My favorite lawnmower which is 15 years old....now has a new look. My husband couldn't stand watching the wobbly wheels. He replaced them them all this morning....spanking new shiney black wheels. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Today I'm doing volunteer work at the free health clinic. I'm setting up files in the computer for all the clients and the paperwork to get them free meds. I've been thinking about it all week. I want to make it as easy as possible. When we move to Tennessee, I want whoever takes over, to be able to understand the how's and why's of the program.

I started my food journal this morning...again. Let's hope I can stick with it. I know it really helped with my weight loss before...I'm not sure why I got side-tracked and quit.

I'm off to drink some water with lemon.

Sunburned Eyelids

I knew Friday was a miserable day, but it has to the first time I've ever had sunburned eyelids. Today is Sunday, and they still hurt. I guess I'm just going to have to be cool and start wearing sunglasses when I'm outside.

Tomorrow is the 4 acre lawn. It's suppose to be hot. I'm really dreading it. I had to cut our grass today. It's kind of bad to have a lawn business and have the worst looking lawn in the neighborhood. I'm just too tired when we get home to do it. My husband has offered to do it...but I like to do our lawn. Maybe next time, I'll let him do it.

I've got to get back to writing my food journal. I always do better when I do. Tomorrow I'm starting again.

Time to get to bed. I'm going to have a hard day tomorrow.

Who's lieing....me or my scale

It was in the mid 90's today and humid. We cut 4 lawns today and finished up the hedges at another house. I drank lots of zero calorie flavored water and ice tea. One of our customers gave us home made oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. My will power was zip and I dove right into them. That was the first bad thing I did. When I got home...I got into the mini banana nut muffins. My second bad food choice for the day. I'm guessing that was probably 1000 useless calories. I could kick myself.

I pushed the lawnmower for 18,400 steps today. It was so hot and I wanted to quit so bad. I kept thinking, this is helping my weight loss. I feel like it was in vain after I see the way I chose to eat today.

I got on the scale this evening.....and I weigh 4 pounds more than I did on the 7th. It sure gives me a defeated feeling. I'll reweigh myself in a couple of days. I'm hoping this weight gain is from all the fluid I drank today.

I thought we were going to have tomorrow off from lawn cutting. Phone rang after we got back this afternoon, we have a new customer. We don't need to advertise. People we service, tell others about us and our business has really grown this year. Good work and reasonable rates is what people are looking for.

I'm off to drink some more water and relax with a good book

Laughing off the Weight with a skit

I was reading some of my old posts and came across this video of Richard Simmons and Drew Carey. I laughed as hard today as I did the first time I saw it. I thought it was worth sharing again.

It's a really cute skit. I'm off to watch it again. ...An after-thought---I wonder how many calories a person can burn laughing. What a fun way to lose weight.

My longest walk........12 miles

Yesterday the weather was perfect. It was in the low 70's with minimal humidity. A great day for cutting grass. I walked over 24,000 steps pushing the lawnmower. I couldn't get my light weight one started so I had to use the heavy yardman lawnmower. I was mad at my husband because he had left "baby" out in the rain. I figured the rain had ruined it. I figured pushing that mower would probably burn off more calories. I didn't stay mad very long.

He tried to get me to use the riding mower. I got on....put down the mower....he pushed the lever to make the motor speed up.....and....and....I chickened out. I turned off and dismounted. Maybe next time. At least I had the nerve to get on. I wouldn't do that before....it's a step in the right direction.

Besides walking the 12 miles, I did a lot of raking yesterday. My husband was cutting hedges so I was raking piles of branches and debris and putting them into a wagon to haul to the dumping ground. I had a good work out yesterday. We spent a little over 6 hours working on the lawn.

Had to mention ....my husband got my favorite lawnmower going this morning. A screw had fallen out. Yippeee

A Weight Loss Ring?....Ebay has it All

I sometimes like to check on ebay to see what people are buying for weight loss. This morning I was checking it out and saw there was a haunted gypsy weight loss ring. The proud owner claims it has had a weight loss spell put on it. What really amazed me more than anything, 7 people have actually bid on the thing. How sad is that?? Geesh

How about a pair of spirit earrings....good for wishes. Someone has actually on them as well. Then there is the spirit necklace which is good for wealth someone as bid on as well.

I'm hoping these people are buying this stuff as a joke. I'd hate to think anyone could believe that kind of stuff works. The diet ring is going for a little over 10 bucks right now with 5 dollars postage. The other two are cheaper. It just shows how bad people want to lose weight.

I'm starting my day with a cup of green tea.

Meeting my walking goal again today

We are back from our lawn cutting today and I've got 10,400 steps in already. We cut trees out of hedges today. It sure is a lot of work. I'm such a clutz. I accidentally dropped my hedge trimmers in this moss filled nasty looking pond. My husband had just gone home to get the wagon he pulls behind the lawn mower to make hauling the branches easier when the trimmer took a swim. I told him what had happened when he got back. He just laughed and retrieved them. I knew if I would have tried, I'd have been right in the water too. I'm sure glad he is so good natured.

My girlfriend stopped while we were trimming. I quit to visit while my husband finished up. We then all went to Wendy's for lunch. We stopped by the house and picked up mom and met Debbie there. I had the taco salad again today with a small chili. I'll eat the other half of it for supper tonight. My husband and g/friend both thought the dressing was too spicy.

I'm off to take a much needed shower.

More focused on goals

Yesterday we did two lawns and I had only walked 8000 steps. I decided to take the dog for a walk after I got home. Actually, she took me for the walk. By the end of the day, I had almost 15,000 steps. I can't believe I've remembered my meds AND my pedometer so many days in a row. I even drank lots of water those days. Could I be turning over a new leaf? Ahhh, knowing me....I doubt it...but it feels good being on track. Maybe I'm just more focused on my goal.....being healthy and losing weight.

We have two big lawns to do today so I'll make my steps with no problem. My husband is in the process of hooking up the trailer right now. We have to do the strip mall early to get around dealing with parked vehicles. I'm so afraid of throwing a stone and breaking a windshield or dinging a car. I can move like the wind there is no one parked there.

I tried the taco salad at Wendy's yesterday. I haven't checked the calories in it yet but I sure liked it. I ate half for lunch and the other half for supper. I also had a small cup of chili at lunch time. The salad was all I had for supper and it filled my up.

My husband is ready to go. I can't keep progress waiting. Hoping everyone has a good day.

Friend had gastric bypass surgery

Today, we stopped for lunch before closing on the house. I wanted my husband to see the resturant I use work at part time. I met a girl in there I hadn't seen in a few years. She had lost so much weight. She told me she had gastric bypass surgery. To date, she has lost a total of 112 pounds. She showed me a picture before she had her surgery. That picture was a shock to me, as she had gained much more weight than when I had seen her last.

I'm not sure about this type of surgery. On one hand she said she felt fine, but had been to the doctor today. He told her she was anemic. He explained to her she wasn't drinking enough fluid. I can remember when I was anemic...I felt so tired.

I prefer to just change my life style and eat healthy. I'm determined to reach my goal.

Lost More Weight

I can't believe it, I got on the scale again today and I lost another two pounds. I can see this walking is paying off. Today we had the closing on the house. I went to my house for the last time to make sure I had everything out. I couldn't believe it when I opened the washer and saw a load a clothes. I then opened the dryer and there was another load in there. It's funny to think those clothes had been in there for three years and we never thought to check them.

I had planned on mowing that lawn one more time, but the kids we had called the other day, mowed it yesterday. I did walk around the yard though and picked up all the sticks. There are 3 huge shade trees which are always dropping twigs. I pulled a few weeds along the house. Since I didn't have to cut the yard, I didn't get in my 10,000 steps. Today was only 5500.

We drove about 200 miles today. I was glad to get home. I use to love riding but that has changed as I've gotten older. There are just too many inconsiderate people on the highways these days.

It was lost..but now it's found

About 2 weeks ago, I lost my pedometer. I back tracked but had no luck finding it. Today we were cutting grass at one of our regular customers and something silver caught my eye. Low and behold, it was my pedometer. I can't believe it withstood all the rain we have had. It is working like a charm. I love my Omron.

We did two lawns today so I only got in 10,000 steps. That doesn't seem like many after yesterday. My knees aren't bothering me tonight. I guess I'd be better off if I worked myself up to those larger numbers at a slower pace.

I finally got on the scale today, I lost a pound. We'll have to see what next week brings. It seems I'm just like a yoyo. Up and down...usually it seems more up than down.

22,586 Steps Behind the Lawnmower

Yesterday was a long one. I got out of using the riding lawnmower. I'm not sure why I'm so scared to learn to use that thing. He wasn't able to fix their lawnmower as the belt was too small. He changed the oil filter, spark plug and did other maintenance. The thing was purring like a kitten...just couldn't cut any grass with it.

I just kept plodding along with my trusty 14 year old lawnmower. I love my little Murray. It is so light weight. My husband wanted to sell it in the garage sale...but I said NO WAY!!.....I'll never find one like that again. He just laughed and said, "You're right!!"

The first time I checked my pedometer, I had walked over 12,000 steps. I was surprised since I still felt fine. It wasn't quite as hot as it has been lately. I think that probably was a contributing factor. I drank plenty of water. I bought Dasani raspberry flavored water the other day. I really like it.

The final toll for walking in that yard was 22,586 steps. That's over 10 miles. My knees were killing me when I got home. I took a hot shower and then had to run to the store. The gas hedge trimmer I had bought the day before, quit working after an hour. We took it back and exchanged it. I hope this one isn't defective.

It's time to hit the lawn circuit again. It's suppose to rain this afternoon. We've got 4 lawns to do today. All fairly small. YIPPEEE

Grabbing my water and heading out the door.

Remembered the Pedometer Today

We are just getting ready to head off to cut those 4 acres. My husband says he is going to teach me how to use the riding lawnmower. He has bought parts to work on their mower so figures I can be cutting while he is doing that. Needless to say, I'm nervous about it. I'll probably have to keep going until I run out of gas. Just so I don't run into a fence or one of their horses. I sure like to think of all the possibilities.

I'm bringing my pedometer with me. I am the one that has to trim around all the hedges and trees..etc.....not to mention the big long ditch in front of the house. I had planned on buying a house in the country when I move to Tennessee, but the work at this house is changing my mind quickly. I'm not sure how much time you have to enjoy it just keeping up with the various maintenance. Think this is a good lesson learned.

Off I go...husband is calling me. I'm just hoping it doesn't get too hot today. The heat just wears me out. I've got plenty of water loaded in the truck.

Haven't lost my house yet

The realtor called yesterday morning and said the closing on my house had been postponed until June 7th. I was glad and sad both....what strange feelings to have over a house. I was a little upset at the fact I had already called the gas, lights and water companies to have a final reading on the 2nd...not to mention...I had cancelled my house insurance effective that date as well.

I was thinking yesterday...I'm going to have to cut the grass there one more time. Maybe this time will be easier than the last time. The only things left at the house are some empty boxes we are going to get on the day of the closing. I don't know why selling this house is like losing a part of the family. I only had one of my kids left at home when I moved in. I've owned the house for 10 years and only lived there 7years. I've tried to analyze my thought process, and depending on my mood, I come up with a different answer. I confuse myself sometimes.

I'm looking forward, God's got a plan.

Mushrooms for Breakfast!!!

My husband had to work this morning at the hardware store. I decided to surprise him and fix him breakfast. I cooked him some sausage and eggbeaters....I didn't have enough time for potatoes. I decided to skip that stuff and fixed myself a pan of fresh bella mushrooms. I'm not sure of the calorie content in those, but I figured it had to be less than sausage and toast. They were GREAT!!

I'm starting the day out right...I remembered to take my meds. I'm having a glass of the Arizona diet ice tea. Between the cases of propel water and the diet ice tea I have stored in the garage, my husband told me to GET DRINKING!! He wants that corner of his garage back.

I've decided to cut the grass at my house today. I was going to take a break..but I can't stand to see a lawn that needs mowing. I actually learned how to turn on the grass/leaf blower yesterday. I felt pretty proud of myself. I've attempted the gas trimmer, but..ugh...I can't get that thing going. I'll have my husband start it...and before you know it, I'm out of string. That is one tool I've got a long way to go before I have it mastered.

We bought a 18 volt battery type hedge trimmer made by American Gardener yesterday. He has one electric hedge trimmer but we have a hedge to do on a farm. He thought the gas ones were too heavy. I guess we'll see how this thing works. I like the idea of not having to pull a cord to get it started. I've never heard of the brand but we got it at Blains Farm and Fleet so figured it must be good. I guess time will tell.

I'm off to cut my grass. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Diet Tea with Zero Calories

I found the Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng at the store two days ago. It's got a great flavor and zero calories. Not to mention...inexpensive. I bought 48 cans so it should last me awhile. They are a little over 23 ounces per can.

We are temporarily caught up with cutting lawns. It's sure a good feeling. I've taken over the billing for my husband. His system is a hit and miss type of bookkeeping. Last week he lost a check from a customer. He was happy when I suggested I do the billing for him.

I haven't gotten on the scale in a couple of days, but alas...I weighed the same as I did on May 5th. I've been doing so much walking, I thought for sure I'd be down. I'll just keep plodding along. I am getting a good tan though....at least on my face, neck and arms.
