Realistic Weight Loss Infomercial???

Last night I was up late again. My husband had left the TV on when he went to bed. I was on my computer so wasn’t really paying attention to what was on. Low and behold, a half hour program came on, getting in shape by someone named Gunnar (I think). Guaranteed even.

It showed a bunch of people doing exercised on and with one of those balls. All the women looked to be about a size 3. None of the men were over weight either. Only thing I saw were people holding up various large pants during the show…(the old me)

To make these programs more realistic, they should be putting heavy people in them. It sure would make it more believeable. Perhaps they sell enough without including people like me. I can’t believe that many people could be convinced with a program like that.

I said to myself….oh pleaseeeeeeee….after I saw the second pair of huge pants displayed. The good thing that come of that program, it made me tired. I turned it off and went to bed…just shaking my head in disbelief.

i know what you mean. i was in martial arts and a certified instructor (before my car accident) and i was overweight, but still, i was doing it. and i was showing others who were also “not quite thin” that being fat doesnt mean being out of shape- i survived a 4 hour black belt test!

i watch those commercials, and i think, Chuck, Christy…get a clue! Or how bout Tony and his gazelle thing? honestly! show me a 300 pound person doing it, and i might buy the dang thing. it’s the main reason i like richard simmons’ workouts- those people are real. all shapes and sizes.

    good luck on your journey.

I would love to see people of different sizes doing machines or workouts in those half hour to an hour long commercials as well.
Richard Simmons did that in his sweating to the Oldies workouts with great success.

Just gotta add - I “know” someone from a message board that was on a Guthy Renker infomercial. Not the one with Gunnar (Core Secrets) but the one with Mari WInsor (WInsor Pilates).

Ok, ok - she wasn’t 300lbs to start. ;) But she was a 10/12 and went to a 2/4 doing Pilates.

Started the whole fat loss journey at 220lbs.

Wow. Some people really do have success with infomercial crap!

To be a size 10/12 and weight 220 lbs, the person would have to be a jolly green giant. I’m 5′10″. I weighed about 155 lbs when I was a size 10/12. I could never be a size 2/4….I’d look like I was anorexic. I got accused of that when I got down to a size 7.
That is just a hard story to believe.

I’m with you Chris. I’m at 164 now and in a 12 and some 10’s. Trying to loose my last 10 of post-baby weight to get back to 155 to wear my 10’s comfortably and I am only 5′7″. Size 10/12 at 220, that’s not realistic, an 18 maybe, depending on height.
Hang in there! Struggling right along with you!
