Muscle toning/increasing flexibility with water aerobics

This past fall, I attended a water aerobics class. For one reason or another, I wasn’t able to commit to the following session. I rationalized that I’m sure. I don’t like to go outside with wet hair…..I’m sure that was my thought when I talked myself out of resigning.

There are many advantages to water aerobics. There is less stress on joints and a person is able to work out all muscle groups. This class gave me a better range of motion over a period of time. I can sure tell the difference. Even though I do go to the gym 5/6 days a week, the water aerobics helped diminish some of the aches and pains of these golden years. It also helped my flexibility.

It’s nice to be able to feel better while toning muscles as well. Definitely killing two birds with one stone. Feeling better(physically and mentally) and looking better are common goal we all have.

Although I learned to swim at a young age, that is not a requirement to take this class. You work out in water waist deep. I had a girlfriend that was deathly afraid of water, after watching one class she decided to join.

With winter here…….my aches and pains have become more heightened. I am going to look into joining another one of these classes in January. I took mine at the YMCA. It was inexpensive. I’ll just take my hair dryer with me!!
