Restarting Diet / Weight Loss

My roommate decided that he wanted to lose weight before starting college this fall so we started eating healthy yesterday (which is still today since I am still awake). I only had 3 turkey & cheese sandwiches througout the day. Supper was corn on the cob, which is kinda hard core for me...but hey why not.

He tries to eat under 1,000 calories a day when he diets. If I try to eat that little I will probably eat my arm. I am still not sure if I am right or left handed so it will take a good thought process before I chose an arm... of course eating an arm will help me lose weight.

Diet End / Begining

So I have been still strugling a bit to balance everything in my life. I have not went to sleep yet and it is 5am, so this post will ramble some.

My weight has not changed as much as I would have liked it to, my diet has not changed much, and I have not been exercising as much as I would have liked to.

My roommate wants to start eating healthy Monday, so I am going to start my diet and weight loss from scratch there. I will weigh in Monday and then see where I am by the 28TH of August.

48 Hour Diet: A Big Letdown :(

I have not ate for days at a time before, but it was in my younger and more depressed times. The first day did not bother me much but by this afternoon I started to feel somewhat weak and had a gross headache. What the hell is the point of a diet that makes you feel sick and to weak to exercise?

I did the right thing and had a turkey and cheese sandwich :) I occasionally like the feeling of hunger as it lets me know I have needs and that I make choices about many of the things I do.

If I had to relate the effects of this product to anything else I would say it would be like waking up after a few hours of sleep after drinking a half gallon of rum and doing some speed based drugs. I think I actually felt heart and stomache pains on top of the migraine headache. Big thumbs down for me.

I found some other choice reviews here. A couple of my favorites:

I hated this SCAM!!! It was like a juice laxative. The taste became unbarable after 24 hours because It left me so hungry. I spent most of my time on the toliet. I guess i could have spent money at walgreens for laxative and get the same results, And all you could drink was water with this. I lost maybe 5 lbs that was probably all the water i had to drink. They always say you loose water weight first! BIG SCAM!!!

This product can be VERY dangerous, especially if you have low blood presure. I was starting the second day... while showering I passed out cold.

This product does not work! I tried it and I lost about 3 lbs but it was muscle that I lost not fat. I also went out on a date with the guy that does their website and he knows the maker of this product. The maker even said that his product is just concentrated juice. How about that?

Tried it and it worked somewhat. I did the same thing with water, grape juice, and some detox tablets (all cost about $5.00) about a month later and got exactly the same results.

I guess the moral of the story is that the collective unconcience of the internet is often a rather valid opinion. I should have done a bit more research and realized that their Google PageRank of 3 likely meant their product was crap.

This product also reminds me how the word drug is just a label and how many products affect you like a drug even if they are not called a drug.

Tasting the Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet Flavor (Tastes Like Yum Fruit Stripes Gum)

Well I thought the Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet would be exceptionally gross tasting, but I actually like the flavor of the stuff. It is not a great flavor, but it is a somewhat unique flavor.

The closest think I can think of to describe the flavor is that it is similar to Wrigley's Fruit Stripes Gum. The kind with that cool colorful fruity zebra named Yipes. The kind of gum you stuffed your mouth full of when you were little, only to find that the gum lost it's flavor 30 seconds later.

Wrigley's Yum Zebra Fruity Gum

I found a couple spots you can buy Fruity Stripes still.

It tastes really sweet and decent off the start, but after you chew it for a while it is not so good.

Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet

Well I am not sure what this Hollywood 48 hour miracle diet will taste like, but this is my pre taste post. So far I have only lost 4 pounds, which means I will need to jog daily if I am to make my goal.

32 Ounce Bottle of The Hollywood 48 Hour Miracle Diet.

I have ate significantly healthier recently though. Often time people focus on one side or the other (food / exercise) when in all actuality it is a combination of the two that matter.

This Hollywood 48 Hour Diet is somewhat humorous in that it says it should be used once a week for best results. That would be like me not eating on weekends...ever!

I am fearing this stuff will taste bad. It says you should sip each serving over a 4 hour period. I usually drink stuff quickly if it tastes bad. In the past I have been known to be able to tip back a fifth of rum. Of course I am no longer as crazy as I was a few short years ago.

Anyway I am about to mix up my first 8 ounce batch...

Shot Basketball + Went Shopping

I played basketball again today. Also only ate a power bar, a turkey + swiss sandwich & a small bag of chips today. Probably around 1,000 calories total. Did not bother me that I did not eat much though because I was heavily consuming lots of internet, saw a bunch of the sun and enjoyed the breese.

That muscle milk stuff I ordered still has not came in. should check statement and beat up whoever ripped me off. I decided it would be fun to be goofy and so I am going to do that 48 Hour Miracle Diet starting in the morning :)

More on that in the morning. I am sure it will taste exceedingly gross!

I also picked up groceries today. Some cute checkout girl liked my shirt I was wearing (which I designed). Suddenly Kirsten became uber cute.

I am tired. I sleep random hours. Its random time.

Mowed the Yard - Off to the Woods...

We have a yard that is not much larger than those in NYC. We also have a push mower. When I say push mower I mean the fully mechanical Aaron driven no engine type of mower.

In the past I thought people that had those types of mowers were poor or something was wrong with them. At a young age I believed in a bunch of the keeping up with the Jones type garbage and greed ideals.

Nobody around me really taught me the greed. I am guessing some of the intrinsic value I applied to objects might have been driven by a social disconnect due to the age difference between me and my siblings and the fact that my mom had to work really hard to support us so she was not around a bunch when I was little.

While that may seem like some sort of random tangent not related to being healthy it really is super related. Often times we would feel better if we just let go of our posessions and spend a little time in nature.

It feels so much better after you are finished mowing the lawn when you did it using a true push mower.

I think I am going to ride my bicycle to the park. I should get on some sort of nature kick. Perhaps I can go on The Road Not Taken and maybe end up at Walden Pond. While looking at the trees and listening to the birds chirp I might think about Civil Disobedience.

Morning Jog

Went to the Post Office again. It is such a good excuse for a six mile journey. Morning was super humid. I didn't tie my shoes very tightly. Hello blisters :)

Oh well, I usually heal quickly.

BasketBall & Sports

I have played BasketBall three days in a row. Never too long to be damaging, but enough to feel at least a little good. Yesterday we played out by the little league diamon during a game and there were lots of people to hit with the ball near the court. Inevitably we did.

My roommate is getting a bit quicker so that is good for making it more competitive. :)

We also drove past some tennis courts and were thinking of playing. I am really bad, but tennis is really fun.

Also I had an advertisement yesterday that costed a few hundred dollars and at midnight I had no product to advertise. I quick made an ebook and gave it away. Sadly though I stayed up all night to do so and was up until about 10 AM. I also did lots of curles and slightly hosed my back. Gonna go to bed now and hope it is better in the morning.

Finally Got My Bicycle

Usually when I say I am going to do something I go right out and do it. Good or Bad...

This morning I was a bit frustrated that I still have not got my 48 hour miracle diet and that I had not yet bought a bicycle. I at least changed the first part of that this morning by going out and buying a bicycle. I had to drop off some mail and the post office is about 6 miles round trip so I usually use dropping off mail as an excuse to jog there.

Today I drove my trusty new bicycle to the post office and back. I did not appreciated just how hilly the road was when I was going about 40 miles and hour and almost got hit (or when I came close to running over a dog). I actually appreciated just how much those half mile + inclines were when I was stuck going up them...yuck.

I have a new respect for that jog to the post office after that bike ride.

One thing that really sucked about the bicycle is I have not rode one very far in years. It felt like wearing a football helmet for the first time or throwing on really strong glasses for the first time. In time it will feel better though. The hills around here are both dangerous and fun!

Weight Loss Tips: Shaving

Shave with a really old shaver. Using a dull razor can help you lose weight in many ways:
  • It will take longer to shave so you will burn more calories.
  • It will be harder to shave so you will burn more calories.
  • If the blade is rusty and you get a disease then you will probably lose weight.
  • And my personal favorite (which I did today): do not pay much attention to how you are shaving. Your shaver may actually take a chunk out of your upper lip removing excess flesh and allowing heavy blood to leave the body.

June: National Weight Loss Month

You ever notice how people make up names for weeks or months?
Why do they do that?
